A young Rich   A Sisyphean Project:

Sisyphean a project which is never finished. Seemed most fitting, given that I never expect to finish this webite. This 'About Page' is a bit of a Pandora's box for all the stuff which didn't seem to fit anywhere else and for me to acknowledge other peoples work. As always with a project like this you inevitably end up repurposing code. Thanks to all.

So Lets get started:

Framework
The underlying framework I used to help implement a responsive fully featured site and provide basic formatting and components is Bootstrap 4/5.
Styling
The major styling inspiration, along with some code came from the Unify template.
Secondary Styling
Came from the main bootstrap templates section. especially the Now UI Template

Genetic History    Genetic History

DNA:lets start in the very ancient past with how the hell did I get here? Amazing isn't it to think that because here I am it can only be the result of all those who have gone before: from the migrations out of Africa, through the ice ages and the black death and on and on - survivors all. For a deeper investigation on this topic. So my biological ancestry, as indicated by a DNA test suggests:

British & Irish
67.6%
French & German
25.9%
Scandanavian
0.3%
Broadly Northwest European
6% - represented by people from as far west as Ireland, as far north as Norway.
Neanderthal
Trace ancestry at < 2.0% or 303 variants.

A young Rich    Ancestry - Recent family

Irene Noake (nee Hanson). Always there for me.
Paternal Grandad:

Paternal Grandma:
Alice Noake (nee Meechum). Never really had chance to connect.
Maternal Grandad:
Roland Clayton Hanson. 'Del Boy' of my early years.
Maternal Grandma:
Eugene Hanson (nee Bryan). The rock upon which my childhood was anchored.

A young Rich    Noake:where does that come from then?

So the surname is from Middle English (approximately 1150-1500) and is based on a geographical locality: 'Near the Oak', another example is Nash 'near the Ash'. For Oak info see this amazing resource...

This ancient Saxon name is derived from common usage of 'atte' (location of a person) en Oak, a place designation, e.g. near the Oak, which originated in those counties surrounding London known as the home counties.

So in actual middle English - nẹ̄r thẹ̄̆ oke - this taken from the Middle English dictionary at University of Mitchigan.

For more about the definition of the surname try here for information Forebears or here.

Chiaroscurio

Lets try different styles then...
nẹ̄r thẹ̄̆ ōke this? nẹ̄r thẹ̄̆ ōke Or nẹ̄r thẹ̄̆ ōke ,or perhaps nẹ̄r thẹ̄̆ ōke and then again... in Chineese then 诺克

And the root! Get it ha ha. So the Oak's have been around for 56 million years, estimated from pollen grains found near Salzburg, Austria. With approximately 450 species with some fluidity within species definitions.

Data and projects    Projects past & present:

RM So working at RM in the educational software development division I worked on many different projects. Integris, a schools management application and Centris, school management at an educational department level. Following a successful bid for school management software for Australia I went on to develop curriculum and assessment software for Western Australia and The Northern Territory.

Following my retirement from RM my projects have been of a more practical nature. Building a summer house. Adding a media wall in the lounge. And many many garden projects.

Winter projects have recently been - in addition to updates to my website - uprading and modifying my workshop. Building a router table and lift, various jigs and fixtures.
